The mandate of the Citizens Commission on Family Law

Law is not an abstract phenomenon whose development takes place in a vacuum, disconnected from societal changes. Given the evolution of family units over the past 40 years, are family laws relevant to modern Quebec couples and families?

The objective is to meet with organizations and citizens wishing to express their opinions on the issue and stimulate reflection on the subject. In addition, the commissioners and the Chambre will brief participants on the current state of family law when necessary. A first draft of the commissioners’ report should be available this summer and aims to offer the public and elected officials deeper insight into family law issues.

All interested citizens can attend and participate in public consultations.
